For the past  few years, Hemophilia Society of Manipal has organized a few hemophilia camps, and these camps are considered as an annual activity for the society. The age group of the  participants varies, and for the year 2009, the camp is organized especially for the youth age group, with the theme ’ASHA KIRAN' which means 'Ray Of Hope'.

          The camp was held from 3rd of April to 5th of  April at Madhava Kripa School, Manipal, and was supported by the donations from Mr. Arun Moraisem (Mangalore), Ms. Priya (President of Rotaract Club), Mr. Bal Warrier (CEO of Manipal Foundation, Bangalore), HOPE (Welcome Graduate School of Hotel Administration). The individuals involved in organizing  the camp are Dr. Annamma Kurien, Dr. Niveditha, Dr. Sreejith, Dr. Girish Katta, Dr. Dinesh Nayak, Mr. Ganesh Kamath, Mr. Sulochana and some volunteers consistings of students from MMMC, MCOPS, MCONS and KMC manipal.

          The participants are mainly from the two states, which are Karnataka and Kerala with the total number of 15 people. By bringing together participants from the 2 states, this camp allowed them to meet friends at their age, share experiences, acquire a profound understanding and increase their awareness about hemophilia.

          The camp started with a short registration at KMC Hospital Manipal and was followed by an ice-breaking session between the participants. The camp was inaugurated by the vice chancellor of MAHE, Dr. Raj Warrier. Among the other activities involved were:- a talk on hemophilia, a movie , lesson on self-infusion, yoga, psychology talk, handicraft learning session, kite flying, cricket and swimming.
